the National Office for Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) launched from the province of El Jadida on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, the operation of booster vaccination of cattle against foot-and-mouth disease, which will be generalized throughout the National territory.
The media as well as the main local and regional players were present at this operation: the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, the Regional Office for Agricultural Development, breeders, professional organisations, the chamber of agriculture, private veterinarians, etc. This meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the main issues related to the appearance of this disease in Morocco and the means of control and prevention.
It should be recalled that the foot-and-mouth disease is under control and remains contained in the Casablanca-Settat region thanks to the mobilization of veterinary services, mandated health veterinarians, local authorities and the royal gendarmerie, and that the necessary measures Control and prevention measures have been taken by the provincial veterinary services concerned in close collaboration with the local authorities to contain outbreaks of the disease and limit its spread to other farms in neighboring provinces.
In a statement to the national press, the Director General of ONSSA invited professional organizations and chambers of agriculture to mobilize all breeders to succeed in this operation of vital interest to protect the national herd.
