The National Food Safety Office (ONSSA) organized on Friday, November 27, 2015 in Rabat, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Secretariat of the Rotterdam, a workshop to present and discuss the results of a study on monitoring the effects of pesticides on health and the environment.
The purpose of this workshop was to present the Rotterdam Convention as well as the results of the pilot study conducted in the Safi region by ONSSA with the collaboration of the Poison Control and Pharmacovigilance Center of Morocco and the Departments of Health and environment, and with the technical and financial support of the FAO and the secretariat of the Rotterdam Convention.
As part of this study, surveys were carried out among farmers, distributors and health centers in order to make a diagnosis of the effects of pesticides on health and the environment in a pilot region.
This meeting was attended by 40 executives and experts from the FAO, ministerial departments, public institutions, professional organizations as well as non-governmental organizations.
