The success of a fruit plantation depends, among other things, on the quality of the plants used. The latter is determined by: varietal authenticity, health status and vegetative appearance which are guaranteed by the use of certified plants.
Before reaching the farmer, the certified plant must undergo several generations of propagation. For each generation, the production conditions of the certified plants must be respected in order to guarantee the varietal authenticity and the sanitary state.
The production, certification and marketing of plants are defined by the provisions of dahir No 1-69-169 of 25 July 1969, as amended by dahir no. 1-76-472 of 19 September 1977 and its implementing texts, in particular:
Technical regulations relating to the production, control, packaging and certification of plants: citrus fruit, argan tree, sugar cane, red fruit species, fig, prickly pear, pomegranate tree, olive tree, date palm, stone rosaceae, seed rosaceae, perfume rose, saffron and vine.
