Under the theme “Climate and Agriculture: For Sustainable and Resilient Production Systems,” the International Agricultural Show in Morocco (SIAM) was held in Meknes from April 22 to 28, 2024, and inaugurated by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan.
The office participated in this major event by being present at the institutional pavilion of the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests (MAPMDREF) in various sectors: “Animal and Plant Health,” “Valorization,” “Marketing,” and “Sanitary Control and Quality.” The continuous presence of ONSSA staff throughout the duration of the show allowed for active interaction with a diverse audience, including citizens, farmers, national and international operators, etc.
On the sidelines of the event, Mr. Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, presided over the official signing ceremony of an action plan for opening the Brazilian market to the export of Moroccan citrus fruits. The ceremony took place in Meknes on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with the presence of His Excellency Mr. Alexandre Parola, Ambassador of Brazil to Morocco. The signing was between ONSSA, represented by its Director General, Mr. Abdellah Janati, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil, represented by Mr. Julio Fortes Ramos, Deputy Secretary of Trade and International Relations.
Furthermore, ONSSA’s presence at this show enabled the organization of several meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation with its international partners. ONSSA received delegations from Portugal, Senegal, UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization), and others.
