For the 5th consecutive year, and as a Country of Honor, Morocco is participating in the 81st edition of the International Green Week in Berlin, which is being held from January 15 to 25, 2016. It should be noted that this is the first time since its creation in 1926 that a non-EU country has been honored at Berlin Green Week. This event took place under the effective presidency of HRH Princess Lalla Meriem who chaired a gala evening on January 14 during which various aspects of the Culture of Morocco were presented, HRH Lalla Meriem gave on this occasion of a Royal Letter addressed to the International Green Week and to Germany.
This year, the Moroccan pavilion occupies a stand of nearly 1600 m2 divided between 54 exhibitors who present more than 300 local products from 4 areas: the coast, the desert, the plains and the mountains, in order to present the identity Moroccan terroir, with a diversified offer (saffron, argan oil, olive oil, capers, dates, couscous, dried figs, spices, cactus derivatives, camel cheese, goat cheese, honey, etc.). Morocco’s participation thus aims to promote exports of local products to European markets and to highlight the richness and quality of Moroccan products.
On the sidelines of this fair, Mr. Ahmed Bentouhami, Director General of ONSSA who also took part in this event, met his German counterpart, the President of the BVL (the German Federal Office for Consumer Protection and Sanitaire des Aliments) to take stock of their partnership. It should be noted that ONSSA and BVL signed a cooperation agreement in 2010; the results of 6 years of close cooperation between the two institutions are very positive.
