As part of the National Strategy for Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Morocco has developed an Integrated National Plan that covers the areas of human, veterinary, and environmental health. This plan benefits for its implementation from the support of the tripartite alliance (WHO, FAO and OIE) through the MPTF project whose coordination has been entrusted to FAO. The launch ceremony of this project took place on June 22, 2021, with the participation of the departments involved (Health, Agriculture, Environment). This ceremony was an opportunity to strengthen the implementation of the national strategic plan for prevention and control of AMR, within the framework of the «One Health» approach, and thus express Morocco’s commitment to make every effort to achieve the objectives set out in this framework.
It should be recalled that the problem of antibiotic resistance is linked to the development of natural antimicrobial resistance which can be accentuated by the abuse or misuse of antimicrobials in all fields, Thus increasing the risks of selection of resistant or multiresistant bacteria leading on the one hand to therapeutic failure in animals and on the other hand opening the way to a possible transmission of this resistance to humans or the environment.
