On 02/05/2014, the Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired a meeting organized by the National Office for Sanitary Safety of Food Products (ONSSA) in Casablanca devoted to the launch of the operation of issuing approvals and health authorizations to establishments and companies in the food and animal feed sectors.
The objective of this day, which falls within the framework of a vast project launched by ONSSA for the sanitary upgrading of the agri-food sector, is to inform professionals about the procedure and the methods for granting approvals and health clearances and ensure their adherence to this program.
This meeting was also the occasion to deliver to certain operators the approvals and authorizations of their establishments in application of the provisions of law n° 28-07 relating to the sanitary safety of food products, the objective of which is to guarantee in the long term the safety of products and the preservation of consumer health.
During this meeting, the Minister visited a few establishments that had obtained health approval under this program in order to inquire on site about the measures taken to comply with the provisions of Law 28-07.
This program is a real concretization of one of the strategic objectives of the Green Morocco Plan aimed at improving the quality, competitiveness and safety of food products all along the food chain.
The operation of issuing approvals and authorizations concerns more than 5,000 establishments and companies in the food and animal feed sector registered with ONSSA, of which 3,000 will be approved for 2014.
