Mr. Abdallah Janati, Director General of ONSSA and Prof. Dr. Andreas Hensel, President of the BFR (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) concluded on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 a “Declaration of Intent for Cooperation”, online , at a ceremony attended by several representatives and experts from the BFR, ONSSA, and representatives of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture in Berlin and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rabat.
In his opening speech, Mr. A. Janati welcomed the concretization of this partnership with the BFR, which is a world-renowned and reference institution in terms of health risk assessment, and underlined his commitment to implement coordinated actions within the framework of this declaration, which notably provides for the strengthening of scientific research capacities and the establishment of a mechanism for the exchange of information and communication. For his part, Prof. Dr. Hensel welcomed the signing of this declaration, which thus paves the way for a long-term partnership between the two countries in the field of health risk assessment. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the main areas of cooperation to be put in place.
It should be remembered that the BfR is a scientific agency responsible for preparing and submitting expert reports and opinions on the safety of food products and animal feed as well as other substances. The BfR falls under the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of the Federal Republic of Germany (BMEL).
